I cannot see why verifying your email comes in to checkout procedure, and suspect this is the usual ebay thing when something is wrong invents a cure.
What is the item number? Does seller provide cost of postage to the Netherlands? Does seller post to the Netherlands? If answer to either of these questions is No, then you cannot pay?
Again if either apply, you would need seller to agree to your purchase and provide an invoice, but by giving item number it might help to identify any problem.

The issue is within my account I guess, just bought the item as a guest without any problem.
I already contacted Ebay about the issue and hope they can help me resolving the checkout issue.

eBay should help you as it looks like the problem is that your account is 9 years old without any activity, so they need to verify it.
