Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I’ve run into a serious and frustrating situation with my eBay account, and I would really appreciate any help, advice, or direction from the community or support team.
I am the Director of Pink Diamond Ecom LTD, a UK-registered business that specializes in authentic designer fashion and accessories. We are official commercial partners of two of Europe’s most respected designer distributors, and our inventory — over 20,000 items — is housed in professional warehouses across the continent. All items are sourced directly from the manufacturers or authorized suppliers, and we are fully equipped to provide proof of authenticity, authorization letters, and invoices.
We attempted to open an eBay seller account while I’m currently in Ecuador (working remotely), using my UK phone number and with the business legally registered in the UK. Unfortunately, the account was suspended almost immediately, with the only explanation being that it “raised a red flag in the system.” No further details were provided, and eBay has stated they cannot disclose the reason.
This kind of vague and non-transparent action is extremely difficult for new businesses — especially those that are registered and operating legally. We are trying to launch a serious and compliant operation, and we need to start selling as soon as possible.
❓ My Questions:
-
Could the issue be related to my current location (Ecuador) or my IP address?
-
Would using a VPN with a UK IP potentially avoid triggering red flags?
-
Are there specific best practices eBay recommends for sellers who operate with distributed inventory and remote management?
-
Is there a way to escalate this or speak directly with someone from eBay's compliance or account review team?
Also, to clarify: our product images are high-quality, with clean white backgrounds, which is standard in luxury fashion e-commerce — though I understand eBay sometimes requests handheld photos. Since our items are in secure third-party warehouses, we’re unable to provide that type of image unless needed on a case-by-case basis, which we’re happy to discuss.
📢 Concern:
Suspending legitimate accounts without explanation may breach principles of fair competition under the UK Competition Act 1998 and Article 102 of the TFEU, which prohibit unfair treatment by dominant platforms. New businesses, especially startups like ours, deserve transparency and a chance to correct or clarify any issues flagged by automated systems.
I’m ready to comply with every rule and guideline — I simply need clear information and fair opportunity to do so.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help or point me in the right direction 🙏
