bought items subsequently identified as counterfeit

I bought two sets of branded guitar strings about 3 months ago from a UK seller who sells guitar strings & other things. The packaging appeared genuine, & I didn't need to use the items straight away. When I discovered that the manufacturer had a product registration/points scheme, I opened the packaging to locate the relevant codes to register them; the manufacturer informed me that the codes are invalid & the items are counterfeit. I contacted the seller, who initially denied knowledge of the purchase, then said they couldn't help because of the time elapsed, then (1 minute later) offered me a 30% refund. I don't want a partial refund because the items are unusable - I don't know what materials they are made of, what gauges they actually are, or how safe they are to use under tension. I don't want to try to return the items to the seller as I don't want them re-sold to someone else. I couldn't find a 'report seller' option on eBay's customer support page. Any suggestions, please & thank you?

Re: bought items subsequently identified as counterfeit

It's too late to report this to eBay or to enforce any refund from the seller,  as you have gone well past eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money back Guarantee policy.

You can try your payment provider now for help with a refund.

I know from this experience you'd know what to do next time,  but always wise to check an item's authenticity on receipt of an item,  then as above,  you have 30 days to return it to the seller,  at their expense,  for a full refund.

Thanks tressygirl, I wasn't sure if eBay kept track of/investigated
counterfeit items.

Sometimes there just isn't anything else to do!
