best offer accepted but no longer want item??

i placed a best offer for an item and then after 2 days of not hearing anything i had given up on it and looked elsewhere, when i woke up in the morning i had been offered  a better offer off someone else for the same item, i accepted the better offer and paid for the item and when i went to retract my original offer they had also accepted my offer. i obviously do not want the item anymore and i have not checked out. i cannot see anything for me to cancel the order so i contacted the seller and he said he cannot do anything about it but i cannot do anything myself as it has not gone down as a ordered item yet because i have not checked out. above my offers area on my page it says COUNTER OFFER ACCEPTED,CHECK OUT NOW TO MAKE THE ITEM YOURS.

I will not be paying for the item as i do not want it and it is over £100 pounds. i do not know what to do as the ebay bot at the side does not even class the item as a item i have bought to get help with it as i have not checked out. What should i do?   Just leave it out of my basket?  or can the seller do something to cancel the offer? they do not seem to want to help out much and they probably will not be able to resell the item if i have constantly got it as an accepted offer?  i could really do with some help with this one as it is just sitting there and i do not want it and will not check out as they were too slow with there reply so i moved on with my hunt for the item.  thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

best offer accepted but no longer want item??

If you haven't paid for it just leave it at that.   The seller may do an unpaid item cancellation after 4 days which is fair enough.   One non-payment "strike" on your account won't have any affect.

excellent, thank you. that is more than acceptable for me. i did not want them to be losing the chance to sell the item to someone else so if they do that it should end the problem.   thank again.
