Winning auction ended

Hi. Was winning on an auction when the seller removed it. Contacted the seller and he said sold it on marketplace for a higher amount.

Is this how eBay normally works? Where you can just end auctions when bids have been made?

This is very bad selling , whilst no one can make a seller sending out a winning auction item,  you can report this to eBay, and they will place a damaging defect on the seller's account.  It doesn't take many of those,  to remove a Private seller from the site permanently,  eBay do not like disappointed buyers.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Sellers can withdraw items from sale, just as buyers can retract their bids. Neither is "allowed" to do this without a valid reason and both risk penalties if they do so.

Unfortunately, this is eBay, where many users don't know, follow or even care about eBay's rules. If you wish you can report the seller using this link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/report-issue-seller?id=4022&st=12&pos=1&...
