Where is my refund?

I purchased an item locally which was described as in perfect condition. I got it home and assembled it only to find there was several things damaged. I then opened a case to return the item which never told me I had to do it via post. A day later I returned the item to the seller and recorded it on my phone as evidence. The seller has stopped responding and will not confirm the item was returned. I've now told eBay that the item has been returned to the seller and they're not helping me. I have video evidence to prove this, but they won't allow for me to upload them. I'm not very happy about this. Ebay has allowed the buyer to keep my money!!

If you paid for the collect in person item at ebay checkout and provided the seller with a 6 digit code when collecting then your covered by ebay buyer protection, see here, Collection in person | eBay

Where is my refund?

Videos and photos do not help with a refund with eBay as there is no proof  that the actual item is being shown.

If you received a faulty item,  you open a case for item not as described and send the item back,  the seller pays for this, you enter if not already entered,  the tracking number of the item send back.   48 hours after receipt of their item,  if the seller hasn't refunded you,  you Have to escalate the case,  ask eBay to step in, and they force the refund.

If you did not follow the above instructions a case could close, and another cannot be opened with eBay for that item.

Then,  you'd need to turn to your payment provider for help with your refund.

I am sorry but eBay does insist that you follow its rules to the letter.

If something is wrong you do not contact the seller and return the item yourself [sensible that that seems] you have to "open a case" from your purchase for "not as described".    The seller then sends a label to return.  You send it back.  It has tracking and when tracking shows it has been delivered you will get a refund.

EBay does not accept any other forms of "proof of return".  The system is pretty well automatic and works well and quickly.  If - by any chance - you paid by credit card, debit card or Paypal you may be able to  claim through their processes.    @collector_coin
