In my opinion, ebay claiming that it is free to list and sell is a big con trick.
They try to get sellers to use promotions to make items more visible, but they should not be invisible in the first place, and using the recommended selling fees the calculation plus VAT, makes the fees more than before this wonderful new system was introduced.
Free to list should not be at the expense of no exposure to potential buyers.
