Want to change my ebay account from business to a personal account and ebay says no, WHY?

I am shocked and really angry and frustrated that I am not allowed to change my old ebay account from a business account to a personal account.

I only want to sell a few items per week, and it makes no sense to be a business account.

Not being able to change the account from business to a personal account makes no sense whatsoever. I can only assume its greed and ebay prefers getting business fees over personal fees.

Absolutely terrible business decision and its disgusting if thats the case.
Can anyone clarify?

It's just in the rules that once a business account is opened it cannot be changed to a private account, some could  do this,  to circumvent the rules,  and carry on selling business items and evading listing fees.

You can open another Private account if you wish to sell a few unwanted used items.  You are allowed to have more than one account.  You just need another email address, and another username ID.

These have always been the rules for 20+ years that you cannot reverse an account. It has nothing to do with fees or eBay greed. You adhere to the T&C’s when you sign up to eBay so it shouldn’t really be a shock.

You don't have any recent, visible feedback so you are not really at a disadvantage by having to start with a new account.

It is nothing to do with greed.

You can have a private account and not pay any fees but you will have to have a new, different account.

Have you tried contacting eBay customer support? I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall that they might downgrade a business account to personal if requested in person. They can see that you apparently haven't sold anything for over a year.

As has been stated, there are genuine reasons why eBay can't casually allow business sellers to change their accounts to private without good reason - which is why they may be able to make exceptions on personal application. If not, you will just have to accept their decision.
