Voucher not applied when ebay uses auto payment

I made an offer and it would not let me apply a voucher until the seller agreed price.

The price was agreed ebay took the payment automatically and did not apply the 20%  voucher code?
Given I can not enter the code in the best offer screen and Ebay did the check out process with out applying my code how exactly I am to use my code that expires in 2 days against they item is will not let me manually input the code against>
and if you are not allowed to enter a code when auto payment is used why does ebay offer me  discount code if that it does not allow me to use?

Discount codes/vouchers are best applied when using the basket/checkout not valid when making offers or using BIN's (buy it now)

Ebay said they will change this, but have not said when.
