Verify bank

I’ve been an eBay member for 24 years and returned to selling a year ago after a long break. Out of the blue yesterday I was asked to verify my bank account despite multiple payments being made to it every month. 
The link opened in the eBay app and I selected the first option to verify my bank account by logging in to it. The pop up that opened advised that a new window would open for me to sign into my bank account. Of course that didn’t happen as the app doesn’t support multiple windows. After trying this a couple of times I chose the second option of sending 2 micro deposits to my account. I am still waiting for these to appear.

When I looked at my emails I had one telling me my payout method has been updated and another with details of a new direct debit mandate, in spite of the fact the account number is still the same.

Now I don’t know if I’m supposed to still be waiting for these micro deposits or if indeed my account is in the process of being verified as the emails would lead me to believe? If I do need to wait for these micro deposits how long do they take to arrive? I have money on my account I would like to withdraw.

Your money is safe do not worry.

If you have returned to selling after a break sudden selling activity on a dormant account raises red flags to eBay as it can e a sign the account is being hacked.

It's a very good security measure bot for you and your buyers.

Those micro deposits can take some time to appear,  mine took 5 business days.  They are tiny,  easily missed only a few pence each,  and they do suddenly appear without warning if not seen and confirmed quickly they disappear,  for you to ask for 2 more, and another 5 day wait!

It's a case of checking your nominated bank account regularly.

It wasn’t a dormant account, I’ve been using it as a buyer very frequently. Plus surely it would have raised red flags sooner as I’ve been selling quite a lot since December 2024.  I verified the account then, I can still see the micro deposit on my account on 11/12/2024.

It did say I’d be notified when they made the deposits, I really hope it won’t take 5 days 😩
