ad 2 orders on the weekend. A lipstick & a satellite cable. I packed them ready and booked the postie to bring the labels. The buyer of the lipstick then requested cancellation Sunday teatime, I agreed & eBay sent me an email saying all was cancelled and I didn't need to do anything else.
Monday I put the cable parcel with the buyer surname written on it in my safe place for collection. Postie collected. But I then got an update saying the (cancelled) lipstick had been collected and the cable parcel was not available for collection. So the postie had somehow arrived with 2 labels and put the wrong label on the cable which is on its way to the Lipstick buyer. And the cable buyer isn't receiving anything.
I spoke with an eBay agent to ask what I should do. He said contact the Lipstick buyer and ask them to return it to me, then send it out to the cable buyer. I said I think the cable buyers order should be cancelled and I would let him know what is happening. eBay said no, ask him to wait for it! I said that would take min 10-12 days, even if the Lipstick person did send it back (which I doubt). He said, oh yes but still to do that.
I said ok, what about me getting a late delivery strike then. He said oh, yes. But you could try and appeal that!
So then I asked who is liable - at this rate I will be without a cable and without money with an unhappy buyer - why did the postie even have a cancelled label, why did eBay not cancel it, when they told me I didn't need to do anything further. No answer, other than come back to eBay if the Lipstick buyer doesn't return the item.
I tried RM, they said they can't intercept the parcel.
I messaged the Lipstick buyer last night, no reply but she also didn't reply to my message about the lipstick when she cancelled (her account was just opened, so maybe a guest account), so I'm not holding out any hope of seeing the cable again.
The thing is - I am stuck, no money, no cable, likely to get some sort of negative strike. RM said they are not liable as eBay should have cancelled the label. eBay think the cable hasn't been posted, but the cancelled lipstick has!
How do I cancel the cable order - it gives me 3 choices : out of stock, buyer requested and wrong address. None of these is correct. What will happen to the cancelled lipstick order - she couldn't possibly claim a 'not as described' could she as the tracking will say she received something ie the cable?!!!
I am stressed out and need help please.
