Updating account nightmare!

This post may not be in the correct part of the community, but I’m not used to forums so it’s here anyway.

This isn’t a question it’s an account of what happened to me and a warning to others of what might happen to you also if you do not have photo ID to update your account.

So right from the first time of receiving that red banner telling me to update my account details it’s been nothing but a complete nightmare. If like me you do not have any photo ID because you don’t drive or go abroad then you too should expect a nightmare as well if you’re going to attempt to update your account details.

So I tried about eight times with various other forms of alternative ID all of which eBay said were fine and each time I uploaded them a few hours later the red banner came back saying that I still needed to update my details.

I made many, many calls to the eBay agents and got nowhere because each one of them said something different but assured me that things would be fine but of course they weren’t.

I am no further forward and nobody seems to really know what the ACTUAL problem is so as a result I have been told that basically there is nothing more that they can do even though I have provided every form of alternative ID which eBay said was okay, which was…a bank statement, council tax document, utility bill, building society statement and council rent statement, all of which were approved, yet I got absolutely nowhere and now I’ve been told that basically they can’t do anymore and to add insult to injury they said that the £68 I have on hold in my funds will go to HMRC after 180 days is up. What an absolute liberty!

So beware, if you haven’t got photo ID, you’re in for a very bumpy ride.

Good luck!

“£68 I have on hold in my funds will go to HMRC after 180 days is up.”

What a load of rubbish.

Updating account nightmare!

Well that’s exactly what the agents told me and there’s absolutely nothing that I can do about it.

It is your money, what do you think HMRC would do if ebay just sent them money, they do not want it.

Eventually it should be released so you can withdraw it.

Thanks for your reply.

I told the agent that it is MY money and ebay have got no right to give it to HMRC for no reason and that it’s probably against the law and he said ”No it is legal and those are the rules and we have to obey them and the money has to go to HMRC.”

Of course I did not believe a word he said and told him it was ludicrous. Anyway I am now totally stuck

and it looks like I won’t be able to sell on ebay anymore.
