Of course it is not ebay profit, it is that buyer and seller do not understand the system.
Buyers cannot cance, only seller can cancel, which automatically generates a refund, but buyers money will be in sellers account and be on hold, and not available to refund, so refund should come from sellers bank account, which may cause delay if not set up properly by seller.
However if properly cancelled refund should be in the system.
