Unable to request refund far damaged boots

I bought a pair of second hand walking boots, which were described as being in practically mint condition and worn only once by seller. I wore them once on a flat 8 mile walk and when I was putting them on last week the sole came away. I have had some dialogue with the seller, who said they had been in her cupboard for about a year. I sent photos to the manufacturer (Altberg) who reckoned that they were an old design and probably over ten years old. I paid £130 for them. The seller will not believe that I have worn them only once, but did offer to pay half if they were resoled. I am unwilling to accept this because they were not fit for purpose. I am eighty years of age and only walk in good weather and not up hills.

I am outside the 30 day period for a reclaim and can't access the appeals procedure for some reason.

Because you have let it get outside the £0 days then you cannot appeal. 30 days means exactly that.

I'm sorry,  there is no appeal process outside the 30 day limit eBay place on cases being opened for item not as described,  as in their 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee polite. A case has to be opened within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery.

You could try your payment provider?  Not sure how they will handle a year old second hand boots failing after one walk,  but worth a shot.

As an aside I truly take my hat off to you at your young age to walk such a distance!  Commendable and I'm envious! 🤗
