If you sell more than 30 items (even if they were only £1 each) or you have sales totalling more than 2000 Euros, about £1700, Ebay has to report your sales to HMRC.

If you are selling off a personal collection and not trading/buying or making items to sell, you should not have a tax liability.

Nobody really knows yet what HMRC will do with the huge amount of data they will receive from sites like Ebay - it is very much 'wait and see' for private sellers who should not have to pay any tax for selling their own personal possessions.

Ebay will report your sales for the calendar year, Jan to December.
