Suspected Scam

Hi, I think I am a victim of a scam taking place. I advertised the item for sale which I had previously sold via marketplace but had forgotten to delete the listing on eBay. I received a notification to verify that the item had been dispatched and advertently I replied I had dispatched it.

Four days later I received a message from a Chinese name person living in the UK asking for a refund as they have not received the item or the tracking number. I have no funds in my account  paid or received any notification prior to this, of a sale or postage.  I have since delete the item and I'm obviously reluctant to refund anything . TIA

Has eBay sent ou a message that the buyer has paid for the item which was still listed for sale on your eBay listings?

Then,  if they have opened a case for item not received,  you will have to refund through those case details.  If there is no money in your eBay balance,  eBay will use the back up source you registered for such purposes,  which is usually your bank account.

Then, money from hold for payment for the item will be released.

No message of E bay saying sold , only to ask for tracking
