Supply keeping the VAT when refunding back your money

I returned an item today because it was too small, and I discovered that the supplier is not returning the VAT I paid, which is part of the purchase price. The VAT was included in the sale and wasn't charged separately. I feel defrauded because I returned the goods, so why should I have to pay for it out of pocket? Unfair behavior and unfair practice? Is it an illegal practice by eBay to allow this?

Re: Supply keeping the VAT when refunding back your money

Did you open a proper return case, and return through the case?

If so while there are circumstances where a business seller can make deductions from a refund, I am sure that does not mean keeping the  VAT.

If you did open a case, is it now showing as closed, if not escalate to ebay to get the VAT back.
