Im currently posting this from an alt account. So I had an Ebay account I was selling things on a few years ago that is linked to my email I still use. I havent touched it in years, but a few weeks ago I got an email about a purchase order. Now, I dont know if I even still have the item they purchased, so I tried to log in to my Ebay to get in touch and tell them. I got my email and password right, but it asked to confirm my identity via phone number which I changed recently. No problem, Ebay has an option for that. You just need to type in your new phone number, you receive a text with a code, punch the code in, and then scan a document with your identify to confirm its you via a site called veriffy.
Issue is, veriffy doesn't work. It needs to have permission to use your camera, which I gave, but it still told me to give it camera permissions. So I tried again and again and again. I tried to give permissions to my browser through my phones settings, I tried removing permissions and re-adding them, I tried it on different devices, nothing.
So, I created this alt account, and tried to call Ebay directly. No good. The virtual assistant doesn't help, and when you call it asks for you phone number or order number. I tried giving both and it told me they dont have an account linked to them, even though I have emails from Ebay showing they do.
Please help. This person bought something I cant give them, but I have no way of telling them this, and no way of refunding them, so they probably think theyve been scammed. Just to be clear, i didnt get the kiney for the order anyway so i dont think i did anything wrong, but this is frustrating. Is there anything I can do?
