Simple Delivery - yet again

Has anyone been charged excess postage by Ebay for mailing packages on which Stupid Delivery has underestimated the correct charge?

AD has been added to almost all my items (even things costing under £10 that fit into an envelope that are meant to be exempt).  Yesterday I sold two large items, which were listed long ago without any dimensions being added, and SD has charged way too little for postage.  No matter what Ebay says to the contrary, l cannot imagine them swallowing excess postage charges of up to  £5 for each item, so l spoke to customer service this morning and asked them to add a note that l absolutely refuse to pay should excess fees be charged... but l have a sinking feeling l may have a fight on my hands in the near future.  My local post office have already told me they are unwilling to accept underpaid packages.

I totally understand why so many Ebayer are closing their accounts in frustration over this ill thought out and horribly misapplied new system.

Simple Delivery - yet again

There is currently an issue with selecting Custom Postage and the correct price for the postage,  for items which should be exempt from Simple Delivery,  that is,  items under 100g, under £5 in value,  or oversize items,  over 61cm,  Custom Postage is just not showing as available.

There is a workaround.

From the link below Go To Solution and follow  the advice in Rick's answer to list your item.  It can be adapted for lightweight items, too.

For the unused labels:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.
