Simple Delivery - can't post anything bigger than a medium parcel - when will this be fixed.

Simple Delivery - here we go again - functionality that worked previously well - software updated - functionality has disappeared.

Trying to sell a flag pole, self assembly, but comes in a long thin box, so it doesn't fit into any of the Simple Delivery package size options. (Weighs less than 5kg, box is 190cm x 10cm x 10cm)

I have looked, cheapest courier was DHL  approx £10.  So I could increase the price of the item to cover postage - but then that inflates the price for collection only customers.

Because I'd have to post outside of simply delivery, ebay would still charge for Simple Delivery postage of who knows what - cheapest is Large Letter £2.70.  Clearly it's not, and if anything goes wrong - am I covered by ebay's rules, protections, etc.???

Oh yeah - customers then also end up paying more because of ebay's buyer premium which gets added on as well.

I have contacted ebay, and have been told it is a "known" fault, and it's been referred to their technical team!!     .................and no idea exactly when this is likely to be fixed.

Go Ebay - your paying customers are once again doing your end user testing for free!

There is currently an issue that Simple Delivery not offering Custom Postage to oversize items,  lightweight items and those under £10,  these are all exempt from Simple Delivery.  This has been going on for a long time now,  and with no date of a fix in sight ! 🤔

There is a workaround.

From the link below Go To Solution and follow  the advice in Rick's answer to list your item.

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/how-do-you-list-anything-bigger-than-61cm/m-p/7882638...

For the unused Simple Delivery  postage label :

  • f you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.
