I don't think it is your imagination.
I believe since eBay's adverts all over every media , tv, radio, newspapers to ' Sell on eBay For Free', increased the number of sellers especially those selling clothing. People were opening up new accounts and reaching into their overfilled wardrobes to sell their clothes.
Competition is far greater now, and yes with more of the same to choose from, and Search can be selected to Best Match to show Lowest Price first, it is much harder, in my humble opinion, to sell items of clothing now.
A couple of things I would suggest clothing unless they're ' one offs' vintage rare items I don't believe it's best to list in auction as they will have a ceiling level, and people looking for clothing want to buy , pay and have them now, not wait for an auction to end where they may not even win.
List those items as a Buy it Now price, that may help your sales a little.
Did you know, if you are listing auctions in a 3 day timeframe, this is an optional listing upgrade, and you're also paying a non refundable listing fee per item of 35p sale or no sale!
