Sellers Cancelling winning Bids

Lately on eBay, I’ve had sellers cancel after I win and pay  promptly for unique auction items (in my case, LEGO lots with real photos). Reasons given are things like “can’t find the item” or “damaged,” or "I uploaded bad photos"  but it’s hard not to think they just didn’t like the final price.

Has this happened to you? Any tips for spotting unreliable sellers before bidding? What’s the best way to handle it — report to eBay, leave feedback, or just move on?

I have already reported 2 sellers, and a third seller did this again today.  Ebay should penalise sellers who do so, the amount of time and effort  put into bidding is a lot! And this is becoming more and more

Sellers are penalised.

If they say the item is lost or damaged for example, they get a defect on their selling account.

Obviously check their feedback before bidding but really there is no definitive way of knowing whether a seller might behave in this way.

Leaving negative feedback for such transactions is more effective than reporting the seller - you will never know what action, if any, Ebay take.

Keep feedback short and factual - 'Disappointed the seller cancelled the sale' would be appropriate.

Thank you For the message. Makes me feel a bit better to know that they get a defect on their account.  I always check the feedback before bidding with a seller. All of the sellers I dealt with had 100% feedback. regardless,  still cancel with silly excuses.

Will leave a negative feedback, just to warn others.
