Seller has changed item description after purchase

Bought good working condition iphone for my daughter.

Two months after purchase it has screen fault(white screen), seller has changed description of an item to non working/for parts. AFTER PURCHASE. Obviously lying.

No way to solve issue/fraud from ebay side.

Is it final?

The reason you cant get ebay to help is because you are passed the 30 day money back guarantee.

Try your funding source for help.

If it was a Business Seller, consult Citizens Advice, they may be able to help.

You could still try your bank for the 50%.

Sounds as though not a good idea to buy from funds in ebay account, better to withdraw to bank and pay in full from that source.

I would say that once sold, it is impossible for seller to change the description.

There is a purchase screenshot in first message, not even a mark or sign that its for parts not working... but in modern list  -  it is. I have all the invoices on my e-mail no mention about fault.

They can revise a listing but they can't change how it was on your order.

So while it may be different now, that doesn't matter.

The seller can't change the details on the listing - it really is impossible for a seller to return to a 'sold' listing and make any changes.

The phone, which you bought on 21st September was listed as 'for parts/not working' and, in the description, the seller had written 'screen flickers hence listed as spares, require new screen'.

It was good device by description, would you buy 14 pro max faulty for 370£? Would you try to sell it for 370£

No answer needed, cause it's obviously

It's not possible for the listing to change once sold, eBay have no features that would allow a seller access to go back in and edit it. You can only edit a live listing, never a sold one.

Whatever the description was when you clicked on the Buy It Now button locked it from being edited.

While sellers can’t directly edit the condition of a completed listing, this does not mean the condition a buyer sees later is the original one. Sellers can relist or “sell similar”, or eBay can update the listing after the sale. In disputes, only the checkout page and order confirmation matter, because they legally record the item condition at the time of purchase — not the current listing page.

I want to understand how to see page at the moment of purchase. My email message and invoice says that it's not faulty at that moment

Your email message (from Ebay?) and invoice would not state the condition of the item.

Here is a link to the sold item - if you bought the item on the date this listing ended, then this is the listing you bought from.

It's not a relist/sell similar.  This is what you bought.  Click on your purchase history and 'see original listing' for confirmation.

That creates a new listing, which the seller may then edit.

That's correct, the sellers current listing may be a new or edited one.

Not quite sure what you mean by this.

Not even a word about "not working/for parts" in invoice/checkout/order confirmation  -  it is not stated anywhere in these docs.

It makes no difference if the description has been changed, you are too late for any help from eBay as the moneyback guarantee is for 30 days after receipt.

Do as papso22 advised and Try your funding source for help.

As said, that is not where you would see the item condition, you only see that on the listing.  I have also now found the original and it was definitely sold for parts with a dodgy screen.

As regards the change you believe was made after the listing ended, you will just have to take our word that this simply isn't possible. If no other bids had been placed it's possible that the listing was revised between the time you first saw it, and the time when you bid. In any case it will be the condition stated in your payment confirmation that counts.

It's too late for any help from eBay anyway.

The bank may be better news, if you paid using a bank credit or debit card. I have looked up the rules on split payents and it seems that with either card you may be able to claim for the amount you paid for by card. However, if you paid by credit card ibuyers may in some cases be entitled to a fulll refund, even though only part was paid by card. However, this is only where section 75 of the consumer credit act applies - and I don't know whether this covers purchases from China. As you paid eBay, not the seller, perhaps it does.

Good luck anyway.

Section 75 only covers a payment direct to a seller, not via eBay or PayPal.
