I purchased an item, the seller sent tracking details and an item was delivered but it was not the item I had purchased. I contacted the company that sent the wrong item. They said they had record of the purchase being made using my name and address, I don't have an account with this company. It would appear the eBay seller has used the tracking details to say my eBay purchase has been delivered. The eBay seller told me there had been a mix up and my item would still be sent out. No other tracking details were given. The seller is now no longer registered. I have reported a did not recieve item. What are the chances this will be resolved. Any advice would be appreciated. The item I purchased was a flat pack sideboard, the item delivered was posted through my letterbox by evri with a photo proof of delivery you can clearly see its not a sideboard. Many thanks

This is the one situation where you CAN open a second case.
Close the 'item not received' case and open a return.
You will have to send back what you did receive.
To request a return, select the item you want to send back from your recent purchases above, or use the button below. You can also start a return request from your Purchases in My eBay.
Start a return - opens in new window or tab

If you received something through the letterbox that matched the tracking details from ebay you need to open an "Item not as described" return using reason: Does not match photos or description.
You will lose a Not Received case as the tracking would say you received something, but not the correct item.

Just to add to what's been said, if the seller is no longer registered with eBay you may need to contact customer support to change the "not received" case to "not as described".
If all else fails your credit or debit card issuer may be able to help, if this is how you paid or funded the payment.
