I just bid on an item and the seller cancelled my bid citing “cannot verify buyers identity”.
I have been on eBay for 20 years, I have over 400 positive feedback (all 100%) and I’m sure I’ve verified my identity as I’ve bought and sold many items including within the past few months.
Does anyone know how I rectify this?

The most likely explanation is that, for some reason, the seller does not want to deal with you. The reason they have chosen is simply one of the reasons Ebay offer sellers if they want to cancel a bid.
It may be that they are about to change the price on their listing or some other reason.
You can contact the seller and ask them if they can please clarify why they cancelled your bid but they may simply not respond.
Personally, I would move on and find a different seller.

Sellers can cancel any bid they wish, but I have never heard of this reason “cannot verify buyers. identity”.
However you cannot rectify this, I would suggest asking seller what the problem is.
I-have not been able to see your full feedback, particularly FEEDBACK LEFT. This is no doubt another of ebay’s many glitches, but possibly seller finds this unusual and not taking any chances.

Thank you. When I looked at the bid history the seller cancelled many bids from many people so either they are being particularly cautious or they didn’t want to sell for that price. It looks like they’ve repeatedly relisted the same item.
I feel reassured this isn’t an issue with my account at least and I’ll buy from someone else

Thank you. That is odd that my feedback left cannot be viewed. I just checked my most recent purchases and I can see that I’ve left feedback so I’m not sure why it’s not visible.
The bidding has ended now but it looks like that seller cancelled many bids not just mine. Seems odd but I’ll buy elsewhere
