Seller Ignoring Warranty Claim for Swollen Laptop Battery

Hello,

I bought a laptop battery from a seller on eBay last year. The product listing stated it included a 5-year warranty. Recently, the battery became swollen from the left side, which is a serious safety risk.

I tried contacting the seller via eBay messages but have received no response for several days.

The item is still under warranty, and I’m looking for advice on how to proceed when the seller ignores warranty obligations.

I also attempted to contact eBay customer support, but haven’t resolved it yet.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

You cannot report this to eBay as they do not offer warranties or guarantees on items, just that they are just as described on receipt.  If they are not,  a buyer has 30 days under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  to return the item for a full refund.

If you bought this from a Private seller you are too late to claim a refund.  Depending when you purchased this last year you may just still be in time to contact your payment provider for help with a refund.

If purchased from a registered UK business, who offered a guarantee and is now not upholding this,  then turn to Citizens Advice for your next steps,  if you wish to take this further.

To add to the advice given, if you bought from a UK business seller, their address will be on their listings.

Write to them (letter, not email) explaining the issue and stating what you expect them to do.
