Hi there,
I sold a carpet cleaner to someone who reported it was broken and asked for a refund.
the item came back used, and it works fine.
theyve clearly used it and then returned it once used.
Its cost me 8 pound each way in postage.
I have no option to escalate this with eBay, just to issue a full refund which I want eBay to step in but there doesn’t seem to be an option.
what do I do?

issue the refund and report the buyer for abusing eBay policies,if you ask eBay to step in it's possible they would refund the buyer and you have no appeal

Yep, annoying I agree, I'm sure many sellers have found themselves in this position, but that's what we , as sellers, sign up t, under eBay's 30 day MBG, Money Back Guarantee policy, sellers do have to pay for the return tracked postage when a case for item not as described is opened.
What you can do to recoup that loss, is to add it to a few items starting prices when you come to list.
Block that member too from returning if you haven't done so already.
