I purchased a telescopic ladder some time ago which is now the subject of a safety recall, and was instructed not to use them because of the danger of collapse; ebay advised me to contact the seller which I did, but the seller has not responded. What's the next step, if any, ebays instructions are unclear, anyone in similar position?

A few people have received same message about this item.
Ebay MBG is only for 30 days.
So if longer it is between you and seller.
If it was UK business seller, contact citizens advice.

If your out of time to make a claim on ebay for item not as described regards the ladders, then best contact the manufacturer of the item for advice/help,as ebay only forward such "Safety recalls".
If there a UK company then as @tobiasd4 suggests, there is always citizens advice

My husband too received notice abut some stepladders, I presume these are the same ones.
He bought them 3 or 4 years ago and has been using them since without any issue. He is happy to carry on using them.
If you want to follow this up and the seller is not being helpful, which we can pretty much guarantee they won't be after all this time, you would have to contact the manufacturers and I have no idea how you would get on with that.
