Royal Mail notified the client owes additional £1.50 extra charge

Hello! I need your advice. On July 31st I sold 1 scrunchie. The package had free shipping for the customer and was delivered via Royal Mail. I printed the label provided by eBay, put the product in an envelope, went to the post office, they scanned the code and that was it. Today I received a message from the client saying that ''there is a notice advising an additional £1.50 charge and it's being held at Salisbury Delivery Office''.Why does the customer have to pay anything more? I mention that the product cost £2.15 of which shipping is £0.87. When I made the posting, I chose the eBay recommendation. I have sent packages similarly before, but I have not had any complaints about there being issues.

What is to be done?  Thank you for any advice.

£1.50 is the charge from Royal Mail for insufficient postage, what probably happened id the scrunchie bunched up in transit thus exceeding the size for letters and has been charged as small parcel, you should refund the buyer the £1.50 and maybe try fixing any others you sell to a small piece of card or similar.

87p is for RM letter.

Scrunchie will be large letter if packed tightly.
