Rookie error

So I sold an item using a similar listing. The buyer paid quickly I sent delivery but lost the postage receipt.

Item was late, buyer asked for a refund as it was almost a week overdue so was undelivered. I gave the refund after 10 days(48hr tracked). The buyer paid the under paid postage and kept item and refund. eBay would not intervene as it was not disputed, I asked the buyer to return the item. Do I have any redress? Technically it is breach of contract and/fraud but I can't even leave a bad review about my experience. Who do I complain to about this?

I knew I had posted it, turned out postage was underpaid. Buyer

I'm sorry but there is nothing you can do via ebay.   Hopefully it's not too much money.   You'll have to put it down to experience.   If it was an expensive item you'd have to use something like money claim online to try and get the money from the buyer.

Thank you for your email. Yes it wasn't much but yes, worth it for the
lesson!

I appreciate your response!

You're welcome.   It's  pity there are dishonest people around.   Don't forget to put their ID on your blocked bidder list:

Although I agree that morally the buyer should return the item, the initial fault lies with you, the seller.

When you send an item with insufficient postage, it is always seriously delayed.

The buyer exercised their right to open a claim for the item not received.

Then, when the item did arrive, very late, they had to pay a fine because of the underpaid postage.

The only solution in cases like this is to apologise, and negotiate with the buyer to either pay for the item again or return it.

You should of course have offered to compensate the buyer for the excess postage they had to pay and offered them postage costs if they chose to send the item back.

There is nothing you can do through Ebay if the buyer refuses to cooperate. You can't reverse the refund or send a new invoice.

And, importantly, you cannot leave negative, even defamatory comments in your feedback to your buyer.

You are not allowed by Ebay to leave negative comments with a positive rating.  This reflects badly on you and can damage YOUR account.

Treat this as a learning curve.  This situation began with your error.

Check you have put enough postage on your packages.

Don't leave negative comments for buyers.
