Revise listings under £20 to remove simple delivery

I have received an email today saying Simple Delivery is not now compulsory for items listed for under £20 instead of £10, hooray! Except when I try to revise my listings to change from simple delivery to custom postage I cannot do this, the option to switch is still not there on most of my listings, I have only been able to revise a couple which were very recent listings, all earlier listings are un-revisable. Has anyone else found this or know a way around it. As I offer free postage and most of my listings are large letter size,Ii have started not using ebay postage at all but entering address details onto Royal Mail website and buying label direct from them. I know in this way I lose ebay protection but Royal Mail will refund if item gets lost. However it is extra work and open to me making a mistake in inputting the address;  why are ebay making things so difficult for us small private sellers?

Your items have to weigh under 100g and be in specific categories.

What difficulty are you finding as a small private seller?

Revise listings under £20 to remove simple delivery

Thanks for reply, I sell a lot of books including pamphlets which may weigh under 100g but are often in the 100 - 250g range. I also sell other small light items, eg vintage linen which do not weigh more than 250g.

I see the email I received says This includes items in categories like Trading cards, Coins and Stamps, which are typically letter or large letter-sized and 100g or under.
By the use of the wording "items in categories like" I assumed that other categories might be included but I suppose they are not so I am still expected to pay a minimum of £2.70 to send them when I can post them myself much cheaper. So I suppose I will have to continue with by-passing ebay postage and dealing direct with Royal Mail for these items which is both time consuming, annoying and open to the possibilty of me making a mistake. The former ebay postage system worked fine, why did it have to be changed?
Thank you

Assuming you are using an exempt category and under 100 gms. have you tried using list similar, and editing, although I would have thought you could edit existing listings.

Revise listings under £20 to remove simple delivery

Hi, thanks for reply
I have tried that but it doesn't work. Another member has told me it is because my items are in the wrong category, my items are pamphlets so come under books. The email stated "This includes items in categories like Trading cards, Coins and Stamps, which are typically letter or large letter-sized and 100g or under". Obviously Books isn't included in categories like Trading Cards, Coins and Stamps and I have no option to change the weight to anything less than 1kg so I will have to carry on as I am not using ebay postage at all
Best wishes

As far as I can see there is now no list of categories, you have to list and see if you can select your own postage. Previous list was not very helpful as for example badges, which I sell was included, Military badges were ok, but sports badges not. I now just use “collectable badges other”.

Have you noticed if not using Simple Delivery it says you are not covered by the guarantee, but buyers still pay even thought the seller is responsible for loss or damage just as we always were, then claim on RM or Courier.

Just making money for ebay.

Revise listings under £20 to remove simple delivery

Thanks for your advice, I have tried changing categories of my affected items, mainly pamphlets which I list under books. Sadly it has made no difference, I still cannot change the Simple Delivery so I will have to carry on not using ebay postage I think. Yes, I agree the changes they have made do not help us sellers and appear to be just to make them more money.
Best wishes
