Returning an item after the 30 limit

Hi all, ( and eBay if you can be bothered),I recently bought a steering rack on eBay which was delivered in quick time and I was very pleased, 3 weeks later the steering rack broke, so I asked eBay for a refund to which they replied, sorry your outside of the 30 day window, you'll have to send it back for a refund yourself, which I did and kept proof, I have now been messaging this awful company for 2 weeks and they won't even reply, after they said send it back and we'll refund you. Why is there no resource to help customers get there money back when " so called " reputable companies do this.?

Re: Returning an item after the 30 limit

You cannot report this to eBay as they do not offer warranties or guarantees on items, just that they are just as described on receipt.  If they are not,  a buyer has 30 days under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  to return the item for a full refund.

If you bought this from a Private seller you are too late to claim a refund.

If purchased from a registered UK business, who offered a guarantee and is now not upholding this,  then turn to Citizens Advice for your next steps,  if you wish to take this further.

Hi, yes it was from a uk business, thought I’d try to shame them into
refunding me first.
But thanks for the input.

eBay's money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days. After that, they're not interested.

As for "so called reputable companies," eBay warns buyers in the user agreement that "they do not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions".

Would you have bought a safety-critical item like a steering rack from a shop that said this? Why don't buyers take notice of eBay's warnings?

As regards getting your money back, 30 days is also PayPal's time limit. However if you paid by or funded your payment from a credit or debit card you card issuer may be able to help.
