Return request

EBay have sent me a message ‘ We’re contacting you about a return request my buyer opened…this order was processed through simple delivery, so we handled the return on your behalf. You don’t need to take any action and you won’t be charged for this refund’.

in a message eBay say that I do not need to refund the buyer and that I will NOT receive the item back.

What does this mean? Does anyone know what this means, please

It means what it says.

Ebay will refund the buyer.

The buyer keeps the item.

The buyer's payment will be passed to you.

The buyer must have opened a return case stating the item was damaged in transit. With the cover given by Simple Delivery, Ebay deal with the case direct with the buyer.

Many thanks for that info.
Can I safely contact the buyer to know what the problem was?…

Return request

It must have been 'damaged in transit'.

If it was, for example, 'not as described' or 'didn't work', then you would have been obliged to deal with a return case.
