Return or refund when item is past the official return date?

Hello,

I purchased a Water Distiller on 13th Aug 2024.
The machine has started leaking and I contacted the seller approximately 1 month ago about a possible cause or refund, however, the seller has not responded to my email.

I decided to buy a new gasket to see if this was a possible cause, but this has not worked and the machine is still leaking.  Their returns policy is 3 months, however, I believe that under my statutory rights, an electrical item that costs £80.52 ($100) should last longer that 6 months.

Who can I contact about this?

You cannot report this to eBay as they do not offer warranties or guarantees on items, just that they are just as described on receipt.  If they are not,  a buyer has 30 days under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  to return the item for a full refund.

If you bought this from a Private seller you are too late to claim a refund.  You could try your payment provider, you may still just be in time to claim there.

If purchased from a registered UK business, who offered a guarantee and is now not upholding this,  then turn to Citizens Advice for your next steps,  if you wish to take this further.

You may be entitled to a repair or replacement but, as you have discovered, being aware of your consumer rights and enforcing them are two different things.

If your seller is in the UK it isn't clear why you refer to the price in dollars? If you imported it from the US you won't have any UK statutory consumer rights.
