Hi there, I am having trouble returning a sofa bed that I no longer needed due to very late delivery (3 weeks past ETA and the guest it is supposed to accommodate has came and went). As per usual I select the return this item option on eBay, choose the first option available (Royalmail) as the courier and got the QR code for posting the item. Upon hauling the parcel to the post officem I have been told the package exceeds the maximum dimensions and can't be accepted, and I should use Parcelforce instead. However, when I go back to the return page, there are no options for me to change the return courier, with the only option being to cancel the return and if I click on that I would no longer be able to return the item anymore.
I then tried to reach eBay's customer service, and finally able to get a human to callback after combing through dozens of help pages. I have been told they cannot change the return courier as well and I should buy my own postage label to return the item instead.
The question arises - if I buy my own postage, the tracking details will not reflect on eBay's website and it will only show that I never posted the item, and the return request would just be automatically closed once the return deadline is reached, and I would have sent back the item without able to get a refund. The help page said I should be able to put my own tracking number if I choose to use my own courier, but again the option is not there since I have already selected to use eBay's label. To make matter worse, after the callback the virtual assistant is now bugged and all greyed out and I can no longer try to contact customer service again.
I've also messaged the seller but haven't gotten a response.
Now I'm stuck with an item with no way to return it and I would appreciate if anyone can offer any suggestions to resolve this issue. Thanks.
