Refund

I purchased an item last week- not dispatched.  Seller has said they have sold the item to someone else so how do I get a refund? EBay automated chat doesn't answer this question!

Refund

The seller can and should cancel the sale and refund you.

If they don't, you will have to wait until one day after the latest estimated delivery date to open an 'item not received' case.

Really though, there is no reason for the seller not to sort this out now.

Send them a short message saying that of course you are disappointed you won't be getting your item but you expect a prompt refund.

You can leave them negative feedback saying they did not complete the sale.

It's possible that the seller will cancel the sale and initiate a refund themselves.

If they don't, you may have to start a claim through eBay. This would be a good time to read about what to do when an item doesn't arrive, or isn't as described. You don't need to use eBay's chat, just read the guidance they issue. It's all automated:

Refund

If seller cancels sale for reason "not in stock" then he gets rightly penalised by ebay for not honouring the sale and has to pay the selling fee.
