Refund to seller when item not delivered by Evri

I recently sold an item on eBay and did postage via Evri booked through eBay. The item was never delivered and Evri has admitted they lost it. I had good comms with the buyer and I have refunded them as the item did not arrive. Evri say that the responsibility for the postage is with eBay as it is booked through them therefore I need to get a refund for my item through eBay- I have looked everywhere - lots of protection for the buyer but seemingly very little for the Seller - can anyone advise how I get my money back as I am now out of pocket myself. It was a one off item of clothing and I am not a business. The amount I would be looking to claim is £23.71.

Refunds should always be done through a case the buyer opens.

If you refund yourself,  you cannot recoup that money now from eBay.

For future reference,  if you used eBay's new Simple Delivery,  and an item is lost,  buyer again here opens a case for item not received , and the system is set up to recognise a SD transaction , directs it to eBay,  who will make the refund.

Thanks - that's really annoying I thought I was doing the right thing by the buyer and now I am out of pocket.
