Refund demanding more that what i received

Buyer complained that item was not as described (books were not in english) despite me stating multiple times and it being visible on the photos that they were not in English. But if it's an "item not as described" matter i have no say in it apparently. I initially had the item promoted so ebay took £10 from the amount sold. But with the refund I have to pay ebay, the £10 promotion fee, buyers protection fee, and shipping fee. Which is nearly £20 more that what the buyer gave to me. Will I get the fee money back? Or is this just how ebay works?

I don't know whether you can still appeal eBay's decision, but eBay's own item specifics did state clearly that the language was Japanese.

However, you offered a 30 day return so the buyer would have been entitled to return it anyway. The amount you would have had to refund the buyer would have been identical, the only difference is that you would not also have been required to pay for the return delivery.

Promotion fees are not returnable and the seller is always out of pocket for the original delivery cost, which has to be refunded.
