I have been asked to sell a number of WW2 gas masks but the first one I listed was ended by eBay as prohibited. So how come there are a lot of others listed and sold?? Doesn't seem fair.
World War II gas masks are not permitted on eBay.co.uk because they are considered military items.
eBay's Explanation:
eBay's policy prohibits the sale of military items, including gas masks, protective clothing, and night vision goggles. This policy applies to items that have been modified or adapted for military use, even if they have been de-militarized.
The EU Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) also prohibits the sale of gas masks and other items that contain asbestos. Some World War II gas masks contained asbestos in their filters.
The ones you see listed have slipped the net. With over 7 billion listings on eBay at any one time, it's not possible to check each and every one, so some invariably will become listed.
Once they are spotted and reported like yours was, they too will be removed.
eBay also rely on members to report listings, there's a report button on the right hand side of every listing.
