After receiving an extendable ladder, eBay (on a non-reply email address) sent me an alert regarding the safety of the product.
Item details: 126039971967 - Heavy Duty 2.6M - 6.2M Multi-Purpose Telescopic Ladder Aluminium Extendable
This included a link to a UK government website saying the product doesn't meet UK entry standards as it liable to "excessively bend when loaded". and therefore doesn't meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

They state in their email that I should stop using the product and ask the supplier for a refund. If I don't receive a response, they are willing to step in
However the supplier has replied saying they are confusing this with a different product and eBay have got it wrong.
The supplier argues that it has nothing to do with the model and company brand I bought and that their products are in line with EU standards. They say they can provide the latest relevant safety certificate
Admittedly the government website is talking about a product from 2024 which didn't go through at the point of entry and was destroyed, so why did my product make it through if it is a hazard?
I wonder if any else has encountered this type of issue with the same or similar product? I'm not sure if I can contact eBay directly for confirmation about this, but would reeving a safety certificate from the supplier be worthwhile?
