Potential return scam

Sold an electronic item which was operational, but buyer says it doesn't work, so are requesting a return. They also note that its not user error as they have the same device already. My concern is that it is their device that doesn't work so they will return that one. Suggestions on how to proceed?

Potential return scam

I would have thought a scammer wouldn't reveal that to you but anyway the bottom line is if you don't accept the return and the buyer escalates the case to ebay, ebay may issue the refund without return.   If you get it back and it's not the right one you can appeal to ebay:
