Postage

I’ve sold an item with a £1.55 postal charge which is Royal Mail large letter. The Buyer has paid this charge but when I go into the postage label it says the buyer has selected a small parcel at £3.50 and the system is asking me to purchase a label at £3.50. Any idea why this

It sounds like you are trying to buy postage through eBay, ignore their label suggestion and buy postage from the PO.

Doing a dummy listing shows that Custom Postage is allowed, which means that your Large Letter at £1.55 is correct, so use it rather than the Simple being shown. That is post using a 2nd class large letter stamp, the only difference is you will not have any tracking.

I do this all the time, as I will never list anything that I cannot determine cost, and do not understand why buyer has been able to select a different method of postage.
