Postage refunds?

Hi all. EBay took money from my sale and provided a qr code for postage, but when I took it to the post office the weight was too much and I had to ship it a different way. I’ve now paid £30 to send it and £20 not to send it! Any idea how I can get a postage refund from the eBay bots? TIA

Postage refunds?

For the unused label purchased from eBay's Simple Delivery:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.

Postage refunds?

Thanks for your help. Sadly when I try to do the refund it says “there was an issue with the order id provided”

I know it’s right because I cut and pasted it. I’ll keep trying.

ive sold hundreds of items and not had as many issues since eBay was “improved!”

Also of course you will not be able to recover the extra cost from buyer, he might possible pay up but nothing to enforce it and might be rising bad fb even to ask.

Ebay is costing sellers a lot of money with a system that only works for their profit.

To my mind sellers should check for themselves that ebay method and cost is going to prove correct at time of listing. I think in many cases no allowance is made for increased size and weight due to packaging.
