Postage refunds

Hi

I sell knitting patterns and offer combined postage.  However as we haven't been able to send invoices for ages buyers are buying and paying for items individually and therefore overpaying on postage.  When I go to refund the excess postage the page doesn't come up with the postage value only the cost of the item.  I have refunded (using the postage discount option) and the funds seem to be coming out of my funds for the sale of the item.  Any help will be most welcome!

Best wishes

Sue

I agree!   You could try free postage just until ebay sort out combining SD postage.

I should also add that your items are new so if you're buying to sell you should register as a business seller on ebay.    Then the nightmare disappears.    Business sellers don't have SD or the buyer protection fee.

Postage refunds

The problem is that with eBay's Simple Delivery the buyer pays ebay direct for the postage.   There have been problems with sending combined invoices since SD started.   Some sellers are saying it's fixed, others are saying it's not.

If you'd like to offer free postage you can change it to seller pays.   So in that instance go to the 'Who pays?' section and adjust the toggle to select Seller pays.   When your buyer completes checkout, you'll be charged for a postage label for a standard delivery service and the cost will be deducted from your account.   At least then you should be able to issue partial postage refunds if you want to.

So you are suggesting I increase my prices to include postage costs and then offer free postage? This new system is so confusing as I have had situations when buyers have bought 2 items, paid for both individually and have opted and paid for 2 difference delivery options!! This system sucks!

Postage refunds

I noticed yesterday that the send invoice had returned on a small sale, which I have always used to make up package from address shown and then confirm when paid.

Whether that is a good sign that combined invoices are possible, I do not know, or just in response to complaints about not being available.

I am also avoiding using “simple” postage so again do not know if this makes any difference, as the whole system has been poorly thought out.

If buyer is buying postage, and you are only using one label, can the buyer cancel the unused label, as if not ebay are again the only beneficiary of UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES, affecting the seller, and just making more money for ebay.
