Postage Charge - Age Verification

I'm an occasional private seller and completely confused by the new postage rules. I listed an antique saw and included Royal Mail Tracked 48 with age verification. Buyer has paid £8.03 for this and it is still available as an option on the Royal Mail website. Ebay now wants me to pay £23.41 for a postage label with UPS. It really isn't worth me selling on this basis. The Royal Mail option is not available on the listed couriers at all. What are my options?

Re: Postage Charge - Age Verification

There have been quite a few reports today from sellers seeing a vast increase in some of their postage on listings,  beyond just a few pence / pounds.

Not sure if it's some technical issue perhaps as new postage charges where supposedly added to Simple Delivery items from yesterday.

I have tagged kat@ebay  a community manager here if she can shed some light on these astronomical postage increases.
