re: i hate sending things back .....
Past help from community said that all i had to do was post a returns ticket and say simply: Not as described ... just to draw ebay's attention to the fact that something is wrong with the item ... without actually having to return it ... but when i do that Ebay just keeps asking me to return it .. then after a week ebay closes the case down ... i hate sending things back ... is there anything i can do to make life easier cos i buy loads of stuff on ebay ... and i hate interrupting my lovely buying experiences by packaging up and returning thing

Sorry, but those are the rules for a refund, that is, you do need to post an item back, but if for a case of item not as described, this is at the seller's cost.
Sometimes, when opening a case , a seller will refund immediately, showing the item does not need to be posted back, as the postage may exceed the value of the item itself.
If you do not follow the rules of the return and when asked, do not send the item back, then the case will close with no refund.

I don't think that anybody will have ever told you that starting a 'not as described' case will mean you can get a refund without returning the item.
It's the same if you buy from the shops. You wouldn't expect M&S to give you a refund without you returning the items - Ebay sellers also have the right to expect a return before a refund.

That is not what you were told on your previous thread.

a response from your previous thread =
"Open a return.
This involves Ebay and alerts them to an issue with the item you bought.
Then, once you have opened a case (return) the seller can refund you, offer a partial refund or provide you with a label to return the item."
