I’ve reported two sellers for items that are illegal to sell. First an e-bike battery with

actually impossible claims ( 600,000 mA) in Amps  that’s 600 Amps! You could run a lorry on that. Apart from being physically impossible and totally wrong , it does not go against eBay policy.
2nd A supposed Sterling Silver bracelet that is obviously Stainless Steel. It’s even magnetic. Again a reply of doesn’t breach policy. It begins with SS so that’s ok according to eBay.   Now that is illegal. eBay have not removed the bracelets and similar items. Which means to me they are as bad as the bad sellers. They are condoning fraud. They are complicit in robbing customers. Beware.

I keep reminding people that eBay makes it clear that they do not review listings or their content. Listings are the entire responsibility of the seller.

eBay even warns buyers in the user agreement that "they do not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions".

In fairness to eBay, they couldn't put it more clearly. So buyers should realise the risks involved - buying from strangers on eBay isn't like the shops. But nobody reads the user agreement.

Buyers can however use eBay's 30 day money back guarantee if an item isn't as described. This is very strongly weighted in the buyer's favour and they almost certainly would, for example, accept a buyer's word that an item was not sterling silver as described.
