Parcel shop refused delivery

I've been selling on ebay for 25 years as an official business seller and still learning! I've not come across this problem before.

 

Posted a heavy order to a customer - delivery to a parcel shop. The parcel shop refused delivery and the order came back to me (the customer was aware of this). The same time I received it back the customer opened a 'Item not received' case. Whilst I appreciate that I actually have their order (not by choice), I am obviously now out of pocked for DPD next day. What should I do - just accept it as issue of selling online, or is there any way I can refuse refund?

You need to find out why exactly it was refused but as you have the item you can't refuse to refund.

Apparently parcel shop said it was ‘too big’ (only 18”x12”x12” box)
