Other courier service

Hello,

We are looking at purchasing a used bookcase advertised on Ebay from a private seller. The items is located quite far distance away. The seller has two delivery options, pick up or other courier with price of the courier option listed as £6. This price appears artificially low given the size of the item coupled with the distance. I have checked on the buy now page and this is a delivery option.

Would this appear reasonable (or is this potentially a mistake by the seller) and would the seller be obliged to organise a courier should we purchase the item?

Unless you are picking up the item the seller must arrange a courier.

It used to be the case that if the buyer arranged the courier then the transaction fell outside all of eBay money back guarantees.   I'd guess that is still the case.

I'm guessing that eBay in some way sets the cost of a courier and if the quoted amount is actually too low then I think that I saw something that said that eBay makes up the difference.   I am happy enough buying on eBay but would never sell!

I could be going mad of course!    @crewe4444
