Ordered x2 items, received x1, was refunded x1 but require both items.
I ordered x2 Perlesmith VESA screen mounting brackets. I specifically needed 2 identical items for a project.
9th October - only x1 arrived. Informed seller immediately, no response.
14th October - again asked seller to respond, no response.
15th October - Informed ebay with "item not received", and selected the "I still want it" option. No response from seller.
21st October - asked ebay to "step in".
21st October - ebay resolved in my favour, and I will be refunded for x1 of the brackets.
HOWEVER - I needed 2 identical brackets. Expecting that I would soon enough receive the second one, I drilled holes in the one I'd received (to attach to a post with U-bolts bought on the same ebay order, if that matters). So presumably I can't return this for further refund.
My question is, given that I specifically needed two identical items, told ebay I still wanted the second bracket, and that the seller is still selling them with 30 available at writing (albeit for £9.99 rather than the £7.99 price at time of sale), can I reverse the refund and insist on receiving the second one?

No, once a refund has been issued the transaction is over. You would have to order another bracket

Thanks for your reply Stephen.
This implies that when ebay contacted the seller when I asked them to step in, the seller was given the option to either fulfill the complete order, or to refund, despite me telling ebay I still wanted the second bracket. Can you or anyone else confirm this is ebay's procedure in these circumstances?
Further, given that I have modified ("damaged") the one I did receive, can I return it for refund?

When a case is opened it's opened for a full refund, if it's a business seller they can issue a partial refund if they see the item was not received back, in the same condition as sent out, I know this is not so in this case.
Never wise to receive a replacement, as this then would not be covered if that was received damaged or faulty.
If you open a case for a damaged item you should receive a full refund.
